About Din Tai Fung

Din Tai Fung is a Chinese restaurant specializing in Xiao Long Bao, or soup dumplings. Since its founding by Mr. Bing-Yi Yang in Taiwan in 1972, Din Tai Fung has become world-renowned for its quality, consistency and service. Originally founded as a cooking oil retail business, Din Tai Fung was reborn as a steamed dumpling and noodle restaurant in 1972. With a menu that now includes steamed buns, handmade noodles and vegan dishes, the brand has won many awards and allocations. Today, Din Tai Fung has over 180 locations in 13 countries worldwide.

Din Tai Fung is a chinese restaurant in Irvine, California. It is listed at 812 Spectrum Center Dr, Irvine, CA 92618, which places it among the local businesses of Irvine that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by. Chinese restaurants in the United States range from steam-table lunch counters to white-tablecloth Cantonese seafood halls, and most fall somewhere in between: a laminated menu, a lunch special board, and combo plates priced a few dollars below the dinner menu. Ordering by number off the menu is normal and speeds things up, especially at takeout counters. Family-style ordering, where a table shares several dishes with rice rather than each person getting an individual entree, is standard at sit-down spots and usually cheaper per person. Many neighborhood restaurants are cash-preferred or charge a small card fee, so it is worth asking or checking the door before you order. Delivery apps cover most areas, but calling the restaurant directly is often faster and avoids the markup.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. On most of those days it is open 11 am–10 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Din Tai Fung at (949) 328-7881; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. More information is available on its website, dtf.com.

Its Google rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 245 reviews, a solid but mixed picture; reading the most recent reviews will tell you what to expect.

My boyfriend and I came here during their soft opening last year, and we’ve been coming back pretty frequently ever since. The food has been consistently good, and we always enjoy trying different dishes. The xiao long bao are definitely one of our favorites. Service is usually attentive, and the restaurant has a nice, clean atmosphere. It has become one of our regular spots whenever we’re craving Din Tai Fung.

Located within the South Coast Plaza Mall Upper Level across from Starbucks. I made reservations so the wait was very short after check-in with Host. Note: I have been to several Din Tai Fung locations across the US. This is one of my favorites besides the one located near the University of Washington. I brought a friend who has never eaten at Din Tai Fung. She loved it! Our server was Elijah. He was very welcoming, friendly and very accommodating! This company hires very polished team members kudos for their hiring process. Now done to the food! 🥟 What we ordered: Everything is meant to be shared, but my friend and I were so hungry, we ordered our individual meals! 🤪 1.) Pear Lychee Martini $16.00 My friend said it was so delicious, in fact she drank it a forgot to let me taste it…😄 2.) Honey Milk Tea $6.50 this was so well balanced and very delicious. 3.) Braised Beef Noodle Soup $21.00 My friend said it was not spicy and came out piping hot. 👍🏻 4.) Noddles with sesame sauce. $21.00 the noodles were a bit over cooked, but the sauce was balanced not too peanut y sweet nor not too spicy. 5.) Chicken Dumplings $17.50 for 10 pieces. Again, my friend was impressed as to how good thes

We were in the area, so we decided to try Din Tai Fung after my girlfriend gave it high praise from her last visit, and it did not disappoint! Sure, the wait was long, but once you see how busy it is, you understand why. A huge shoutout to our server, Eddie! he was fantastic and really made our meal enjoyable! Excellent service! As for the food, it was fresh and bursting with flavor. The xiao long bao was incredible! It’s easy to see why this place has such a great reputation. If you're in the area, you definitely need to check it out!

This was our first time dining at this location, and we were seated right away with no wait. The space is open and spacious, with warm and comfortable decor that made the food feel even more enjoyable. The service was quick, and the food was as delicious as always. The new dish, the beef chow mein, was especially tasty! For the restrooms, you can easily tell if they’re occupied by checking the color of the light above—simple and convenient. We truly love Din Tai Fung and look forward to coming back again soon!

I recently visited Din Tai Fung, and overall it was a great experience, with a few things to keep in mind before you go. First, be prepared for a wait. There’s almost always a long line, whether you’re trying to get a table or even sit at the bar. I’d definitely recommend making a reservation ahead of time if you can. Even though the space is pretty large, it still feels constantly busy, likely because it’s a newer location and very popular right now. One of the coolest parts of the experience was watching the cooks through the window making the dumplings fresh. It adds such a fun and unique touch and makes you appreciate the craftsmanship behind the food. The food itself was good, and I appreciated that they offer vegan options, which is always a plus. I do wish there were more gluten free options available, though, as the menu is a bit limited in that area. Service was great. The staff was attentive, friendly, and handled the busy environment really well. The atmosphere is also super cool, lively but still enjoyable. Overall, definitely worth checking out, just plan ahead and make a reservation.
